COMMERCE BANK ANNOUNCES OFFICER PROMOTIONS AND ELECTIONS

(Kansas City, MO February 12, 2002) - The Board of Directors of Commerce Bank, Kansas City, announced the following officer promotions and elections.

Clement E. Buschmann has been promoted to Vice President of Service Management in the Information Technology Division of the Bank. In this position, Buschmann is responsible for managing the Application Support and Development Groups within Information Technology. Prior to joining Commerce Bank, Buschmann was the Vice President of Operations and Chief Technology Officer for Authent Account, Inc. Buschmann received his Bachelor of Art in Mathematics from William Jewell College.

Christy Cascio has been promoted to Assistant Vice President in the Bank's Corporate Services Division. Cascio oversees the Electronic Banking Services, Account Reconciliation Processing, Account Analysis and Commercial Customer Support departments. She is a member of the Treasury Management Association (TMA) and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from William Jewell College.

Amy Allen has been elected to Officer, Project Management, in the Retail Lending and Payment Systems (RLPS) Division of the Bank. She is responsible for supporting all projects in the RLPS line of business. Prior to joining Commerce Bank, Allen was a Senior Manager in Credit and Risk Management for Key Corporation. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Consumer Affairs and Financial Planning from Purdue University.

Julie K. Murphy has been elected a Trust Officer in The Commerce Trust Company, a division of Commerce Bank. Murphy supervises the new account and terminating account areas of The Commerce Trust Company and is responsible for all security settlements. She received her Associate Degree in Business Administration from Maple Woods Community College.

Phyllis Warner has been elected to Officer in the Bank's Commercial Credit Department. She is responsible for training new credit analysts within the Kansas City region. Warner received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from William Jewell College.
