COMMERCE BANK ANNOUNCES OFFICER PROMOTIONS AND ELECTIONS

KANSAS CITY, MO - July 5, 2002 - The Board of Directors of Commerce Bank, Kansas City, announced the following officer promotions and elections.

Susan L. Moore has been promoted to Vice President of the Corporate Facility group within Commerce. Moore oversees the day-to-day corrective, preventative and predictive maintenance for all Commerce Bank locations. She joined Commerce over 22 years ago and received Commerce's "Get it Done" award for her work in moving multiple floors of tenants into a new building smoothly. Additionally, Moore has been a member of the Building Owners Management Association since 1988 and is currently second Vice President on the board of directors. She also is a member of the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) and is active in her church and has volunteered for the Commerce Bank-sponsored Habitat for Humanity building project for the last 10 years.

Don Becker has been elected Officer in the Retail Lending and Payment Systems (RLPS) of the bank. Becker manages the marketing and operations functions for Commerce's university card debit products for the University of Kansas, Kansas State University, Fort Hays State University and Wichita State University. University Card debit products link the student's university identification card to his or her checking account, enabling ATM and debit card functions. Becker brings six years of university card experience to the post. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History from Washburn University, Topeka, KS.

Brenda J. Schauer has been elected Officer in the Human Resources group. Schauer is responsible for worker's compensation, employee benefits and special projects. She has five years of experience in the area of human resources. Schauer earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, MO.
