COMMERCE BANK PROMOTES PIERCE TO COMMERCIAL LOAN OFFICER

(SPRINGFIELD, MO, September 19, 2001) - Byron Pierce, II, has been promoted to Commercial Loan Officer in Commerce Bank's Commercial Lending Division, according to Robert A. Hammerschmidt, Jr., President and CEO, Commerce Bank, Springfield Region. In his position, he is responsible for business development and customer service related to the bank's commercial lending services.

Mr. Pierce has three years of business and banking experience and, prior to his promotion, served as credit analyst with Commerce. He is a 1989 graduate of McMurry University, Abilene, Texas, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
