COMMERCE BANK ANNOUNCED OFFICER PROMOTIONS AND ELECTIONS

(KANSAS CITY, MO, November 14, 2001) - Commerce Bank, Kansas City announced the following officer elections and promotions:

Mr. John W. Harrison III has joined Commerce Bank as Vice President, Commerce Brokerage Services, Inc. He is responsible for assisting Bank clients with investment and financial planning. He is currently a member of the Lyons Club. Mr. Harrison earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas.

Mr. Trenton Madden has been promoted to Assistant Vice President of the Retail Systems Development department. He is responsible for managing the administration of Retail web-based delivery systems and project management/analyst support for technology projects. Mr. Madden has been with Commerce Bank for more than eight years.

Mr. Arthur Peterson, CPA has been promoted to Assistant Vice President of the Corporate Finance department. He is responsible for the preparation of corporate tax returns. Mr. Peterson has been with Commerce Bank for more than 24 years. He is currently a member of the American Institute of CPAs. Mr. Peterson earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin.

Mrs. Cynthia Darlene Reeve has been elected Officer in the Corporate Finance department. She is responsible for managing accounts payable and purchasing. Mrs. Reeve has been with Commerce Bank for more than 12 years. She is currently a member of the United Way and is the team captain of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Mrs. Joni Yates has been promoted to Assistant Vice President of the Corporate Finance department. She is responsible for managing the complete accounting functions for all Commerce Banks located in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Illinois. She also supervises and reviews an accounting staff and ensures proper internal control and procedures are established and followed. She has been in the banking industry for more than 24 years. Mrs. Yates earned her Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from St. Mary's College, Leavenworth, Kansas.
