Columbia, MO - February 7, 2005 - Teresa Maledy, president, Commerce Bank, Central Missouri Region, recently announced the following promotions and new hires:
Steve Sowers has been promoted to executive vice president of Commerce Bank, Central Missouri Region. Sowers joined Commerce in 1997 and prior to his promotion served as senior vice president and commercial team leader. His responsibilities include overseeing relationship management and business development related to the commercial lending and treasury services divisions of Commerce Bank in Columbia and surrounding markets. Sowers is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and a double major in finance and banking and real estate. Active in the community, Sowers is a graduate of Leadership Columbia and a member of the Columbia Area Chamber of Commerce, Central Missouri Development Council, Home Builders Association of Columbia, The Tiger Quarterback Club, and Score Against Hunger Campaign.
Ed Musterman has joined Commerce Bank as vice president and commercial lender. Musterman has 15 years of lending experience encompassing agricultural and commercial lending in Missouri and Illinois. A 1972 graduate of the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources of the University of Missouri-Columbia, he has additionally completed numerous banking, lending and professional development programs. Active in the community, Musterman serves as school board member, Southern Boone County; and member, Optimist Clubs. He also serves on various community committees, including Columbia Chamber of Commerce Agribusiness Committee, and past member of the University of Missouri Outreach and Extension Council, Boone County.
Jack Smith has joined Commerce Bank as vice president and commercial lender. Smith comes to Commerce with twenty years of banking experience including serving in key management positions with Missouri community offices of national and regional banking companies. A 1984 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, he received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture. Smith has successfully completed professional education courses throughout his career including graduating in 1994 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Graduate School of Banking. Currently, he is a member of the Tiger Quarterback Club and Columbia NW Rotary Club.
Michael Ireland, assistant vice president, has been promoted to commercial lender. His responsibilities include business development and relationship management related to Commerce's full line of banking, borrowing and treasury management solutions for commercial clients. Prior to his promotion, Ireland served as small business banking specialist and branch manager. Ireland is a 1998 graduate of Missouri Western State College, St. Joseph, with a bachelor of science degree in business administration and marketing. Active in civic and community organizations, Ireland is a board member,
Columbia Montessori School; board vice president, Phoenix Programs, Inc.; member, Chamber of Commerce, Home Builders Association of Columbia and The Tiger Quarterback Club; and past loaned executive, Columbia Area United Way.
