COMMERCE BANK ANNOUNCES OFFICER ELECTIONS AND PROMOTIONS

KANSAS CITY, MO - February 17, 2004 - The Board of Directors of Commerce Bank, Kansas City, announced the following officer promotions and elections.

Craig Cook has been elected Vice President in Retail Lending and Payment Systems (RLPS), where he serves as the Senior Servicing Manager. He is responsible for managing the finance department, accounting department and several servicing areas, which include collateral, indirect, booking, paid loans and commercial/merchant underwriting departments for the RLPS division. Cook has been with Commerce Bank for seven years within the RLPS department. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Nebraska.

Carmen Vasquez-Rangel has been elected Officer within the Retail Division of the bank, where she serves as Branch Manager of the Olathe Dennis location. She is responsible for new business development and general management of the branch and its staff. Vasquez-Rangel is a member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Project Choice Alumni Association. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Rockhurst University and a Masters in Business Administration from Baker University.

Jason Campbell has been elected Officer in the Network Engineering Department, where he serves as a Senior Network Design Engineer. He is responsible for reviewing current market trends and design decisions to ensure they are aligned with industry best practices and to provide leadership and direction for the information technology and network design team. Campbell has worked in the industry for seven years. He will complete his Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix in Fall of 2004.

Patty Johnson has been elected Officer in Retail Lending and Payment Systems (RLPS), where she serves as an Accounting Manager. She is responsible for managing the reconciliations of all accounting functions for installment loans and dealer services, analysis of financial reports for the department and management of settlement conversions for bank mergers, branch sales and branch acquisitions. Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Northwest Missouri State University and a Masters in Business Administration from Baker University.

Mark E. Price has been elected Officer in the Information Technology Department, where he serves as an Associate Information Security Consultant. He is responsible for assisting with the administration of the information security program for the Bank. Price has been in the industry for 20 years and seven of those years have been with Commerce Bank. He is a certified Information Security Systems Professional (CISSP).

Joel Verwers has been elected Officer in the Information Technology Department, where he serves as an Information Technology Lead. He manages the development team responsible for planning, analyzing, designing, deploying and maintaining multiple web-based applications that supports key functional areas of the Bank. Verwers has been in the industry for nine years and six of those years have been with Commerce Bank in the Information Technology Department. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Northern Iowa.

Lea Ann Littell has been elected Officer in the Information Technology Department, where she serves as an Information Technology Lead. She is responsible for leading the system programming for Automated Teller Machines (ATM), Teller systems, Voice Response Unit, Home Banking system, Bankcard system and Debit Card Management. Littell earned an Associates degree in Data Processing from Longview Community College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from DeVry University.
