COMMERCE BANK ANNOUNCES OFFICER ELECTIONS AND PROMOTIONS

KANSAS CITY, MO - July 9, 2004 - The Board of Directors of Commerce Bank, Kansas City, announced the following officer promotions and elections.

Robert Henderson has been elected Assistant Vice President within the Capital Markets group, where he serves as a Trader. He is responsible for managing the bank's cash position at the Federal Reserve by buying or selling Federal Funds. Henderson has been with Commerce Bank for 14 years within the Capital Markets divisions of the bank.

Pam LaRocca has been elected Assistant Vice President within the Capital Markets group. She serves as a government and agency bond trader. LaRocca has been with Commerce Bank for 11 years, working in different divisions throughout the bank. She received a bachelor's of science degree in business administration from The University of Kansas.

Denise Macy has been elected Assistant Vice President within the Capital Markets group, where she serves as a Trader. She is responsible for trading money market accounts and discounted agency securities for several areas. Macy has been with Commerce Bank for 28 years within different divisions of the bank.

Josh Cartwright has been elected Officer in the Retail division of the bank, where he serves as a Branch Manager of the newest Commerce Banking Center located at 135th and State Line. His responsibilities include new business development and general management of the branch and its staff. Cartwright has a bachelor's of arts degree in economics from The University of Kansas.

Paul Donovan has been elected Officer within the Capital Markets group, where he serves as a Trader. He is responsible for locating, securing and executing fixed income investments. He has been with Commerce Bank for five years within the Capital Markets division. Donovan received a bachelor's of science degree in business administration from Rockhurst University.

Brad Hughes has been elected Officer within the Information Technology division, where he serves as a Senior Information Services Consultant. He is responsible for maintaining the midrange Unix system platform. Hughes has been with Commerce Bank for two years with the Information Technology division of the bank. He has a computer and information science degree from ECPI College of Technology.

Kelli Ysquierdo has been elected Officer in the Commercial division of the bank, where she serves as a Commercial Lending Services Group Manager. She is responsible for preparing commercial loan documentation for 35 Commerce Bank locations. Ysquierdo has been with Commerce Bank for seven years.
