COLUMBIA, MO, July 25, 2006 – Teresa Maledy, president, Commerce Bank, Central Missouri Region announces the following promotions:
Jack Smith has been promoted to senior vice president and team leader in the commercial lending division of the bank. His responsibilities include managing business development and customer service related to the bank’s full line of commercial banking solutions including lending, treasury services, and electronic payment for businesses. Smith has more than 21 years of banking experience.
A 1984 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, he received a bachelor’s of science degree in agriculture. Smith has successfully completed professional education courses throughout his career including graduating in 1994 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Graduate School of Banking. Currently, he is a member of the Tiger Quarterback Club and Columbia NW Rotary Club.
David Whelan has been promoted to group manager in the retail banking division. In his new position, he is responsible for supporting key initiatives for Commerce Bank branches in the Central Missouri Region including sales and quality service programs, oversight and implementation of policies and procedures, strategic planning and tracking, professional development, and more. Whelan has 15 years of experience in business and banking and also serves asvice president and branch manager of the Business Loop Banking Center, 500 Business Loop 70 West.
A 1990 graduate of Truman State University, Whelan received a bachelor’s of arts degree in communications and business. A former enlistee of the U.S. Army, Whelan is a volunteer for the Columbia Area United Way, Central Missouri Food Bank and The Terrace Retirement Community.
