COMMERCE BANK ANNOUNCES OFFICER ELECTIONS AND PROMOTIONS

SAINT JOSEPH, MO - August 5, 2004 - The Board of Directors of Commerce Bank, St. Joseph, announced the following officer promotions and elections.

Corky Marquart has been elected Senior Vice President in the Commercial division of the bank, where she serves as a Commercial Bank Team Leader. She has been with Commerce Bank for 18 years in different divisions of the bank.

Marquart and her team will be responsible for business development and relationship management for a portion of the commercial banking portfolio. "Corky has a very broad base of banking experience, serving in many different areas of the bank," said Emil Sechter, Community Bank President. "She really knows the business and this enables her to find the right solutions for her customers' needs."

Marquart is very active in the St. Joseph community. She is the Secretary for the City of St. Joseph Tax Increment Financing Committee, Board Member for the Bishop Leblond High School, United Way Finance Committee Member and Board Member for the Ladies Union Benevolent Association.

Marquart earned a bachelor's of science degree in business administration from Missouri Western State College and completed the BAI Graduate School of Banking program.

Michael Holden recently joined Commerce Bank in St. Joseph as Vice President in the Commercial division of the bank. He is responsible for business development and relationships management for a portfolio of commercial customers. Holden has been in the banking industry for ten years. Most recently he was an Assistant Vice President of Commercial Lending with U.S. Bank.

"Michael is a great asset to the Commerce team in St. Joseph," Sechter continued. "His level of experience in banking will be a benefit to our customers, who, with Michael's oversight, can continue to expect financial solutions tailored to their specific needs."

Holden is active in the St. Joseph community. He is a board member of the Northtown Community Center, member of the St. Joseph Baptist Association, Neighborhood Partnership Finance Committee member, Deacon and Stewardship Committee Member for Wyatt Park Baptist Church, fundraising volunteer for the March of Dimes, volunteer for United Way and member of the Missouri Western State College Gold Coat Club.

Holden earned a bachelor's of science degree in business management from Missouri Western State College.
