Columbia, MO - August, 25 2004 - Teresa Maledy, President, Commerce Bank, Central Missouri region, recently announced that Steve Sowers has been promoted to senior vice president and team leader of the Columbia bank's commercial lending department. Sowers joined Commerce in 1997. His responsibilities include business development and customer service related to the Bank's full line of commercial lending and treasury services products and solutions.
Sowers is a graduate of the University of Missouri - Columbia (MU), where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with a double major in finance and banking and real estate. While a member of the Golf Team at MU, he was twice named to the Academic All American and All Conference Teams. Prior to establishing his career in banking, Sowers competed around the country on several professional golf tours and then served as the Head Golf Professional for a private country club in Rolla, Missouri.
Active in the community, Sowers is a graduate of the Leadership Columbia program. Additionally, he is a member of the Columbia Area Chamber of Commerce, Central Missouri Development Council, Home Builders Association of Columbia, The Tiger Quarterback Club, and Score Against Hunger Campaign. Sowers is also a volunteer for initiatives that support Partners In Education and Donna Crockett Children's Charities Fund.
