Retail Banking Group Hires Whelan and Promotes Garrett and Truesdell
Columbia, MO - September 24, 2004 - Teresa Maledy, president, Commerce Bank, Central Missouri region, recently announced the following promotions and new hire in the Retail Management division of Commerce Bank:
John Garrett has been promoted to assistant vice president and branch manager of Commerce Bank's Bernadette Banking Center, 2000 Bernadette. In his position, he is responsible for managing retail sales and customer service at the company's Central Missouri Region headquarters location. Prior to his promotion, Garrett served in key positions with Commerce including branch manager and financial services representative of the Business Loop Banking Center. He is a 1986 graduate of Monmouth College, Monmouth, Ill., where he received bachelor's of arts degrees in music and business. He is currently serving as a board member for Boys and Girls Town of Missouri in Columbia.
Jennifer Truesdell has been promoted to retail banking officer and branch manager of Commerce Bank's Broadway Banking Center, 501 E. Broadway. In her position, she is responsible for managing retail sales and customer service at the Bank's downtown branch location. Prior to her promotion, Truesdell served as senior financial services representative. She is a 1995 graduate of Columbia College where she received a bachelor's of science degree in business administration with an emphasis in management and marketing. Through Commerce Bank, she volunteers for civic and charitable initiatives including United Way Day of Caring, American Cancer Society Relay for Life and more.
David Whelan has joined Commerce Bank as assistant vice president and branch manager of the Business Loop Banking Center, 500 Business Loop 70 West. His responsibilities include business development and customer services related to the bank's full line of consumer banking products. Whelan comes to Commerce with 14 years of experience in business and banking, including most recently serving as branch manager for the Columbia offices of a national banking company. He is a 1990 graduate of Truman State University where he received a bachelor's of arts degree in communications and business. A former enlistee of the U.S. Army, Whelan is a volunteer for the Columbia Area United Way, Central Missouri Food Bank and The Terrace Retirement Community.
