Creating a Positive Workplace Environment

At Commerce, we recognize that the people who present our products and services to customers are what set us apart from our competitors. That is one reason why we regularly conduct employee surveys to measure "employee engagement." In 2015, our sustainable employee engagement score of 84% outperforms the financial services industry average and other high-performing companies. Why is that important? Employee engagement measures the extent to which all Commerce employees are united in the focus on our customers, our company and our shareholders.

The newest addition to Commerce Bank's learning and development resources is the Professional Development at Commerce curriculum. This new development opportunity will help all levels of employees sharpen and grow their careers in these key areas of focus: coaching, communications and presentation skills, general development, managing at Commerce and professional presence.

Each year, we produce an Employee Annual Report which is distributed via e-mail to all Commerce employees. Through this venue, we are able to share employee success stories across markets and lines of business and underscore that we are "One Commerce" regardless of job or location.

Another regular publication is the annual benefits statement provided to all Commerce employees. This provides a summary of the costs and values of health and retirement benefits, including projections of the value of an employee's 401(k) and other company-sponsored plans at retirement. The benefits statement is made available so employees can discuss these important issues with family members or financial advisors.
