What is the Commerce Visa Gift Card?

The Commerce Visa Gift Card is a prepaid card – not a credit card. When you purchase the card, you can determine how much you want to put on the card, within our limits. You can purchase the card for yourself or for someone else. Once you have purchased the card, the cardholder can use it to make purchases anywhere VISA debit cards are accepted in the United States.

Where can I purchase a Commerce Visa Gift Card?

You may purchase a card in person at Commerce Bank locations in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Oklahoma and Colorado. You may also purchase Commerce Visa Gift Cards
online via our website. Cards purchased online can be mailed to you, the purchaser, or to the recipient. Limitations may apply.

What dollar amounts can I put on a Commerce Visa Gift Card?

Cards can be purchased for any whole dollar amount from $25 to $1000 per card, for both in branch and online sales. Non-Commerce Bank customers are limited to in branch sales only with a total purchase amount of $500 per day. Limitations may apply.

Where can the Commerce Visa Gift Card be used?

The gift card can be used at any location nationwide that accepts VISA debit cards. The Commerce Visa Gift Card cannot be used at ATM’s or for cash access.

What payment method can I use to buy a Commerce Visa Gift Card?

For branch purchases, you may use cash or funds from your Commerce Bank account. For online purchases, you may use your Commerce Bank Visa Check Card or Commerce Bank Credit Card. If you are a corporate customer, please contact the Commerce Visa Gift Card Team at giftcard@commercebank.com† for special corporate offers.

If I do not have cash or a Commerce Bank account, can I get a cash advance from my Credit Card to purchase a Commerce Visa Gift Card?

Yes. If you do not have cash or a Commerce Bank account, the teller can process a cash-advance from your VISA or MasterCard for you. A cash-advance fee may be assessed. This option is only available for branch sales.

Will I be charged a fee for purchasing a Commerce Visa Gift Card?

Yes. The fee is $4.99 for a Commerce Visa Gift Card purchased at a branch. Fees for a card purchased online will vary based on dollar amount loaded to the card. Please see online sales for more information and shipping fees.

Can I purchase multiple Commerce Visa Gift Cards?

Yes. You can purchase multiple Commerce Visa Gift Cards at your local branch. If you wish to purchase multiple Commerce Visa Gift Cards online, you will be required to place each card order separately. Can I add more money to my Commerce Visa Gift Card?

No. The Commerce Visa Gift Card is not reloadable.

Will my credit be checked to purchase a Commerce Visa Gift Card?

No. The Commerce Visa Gift Card is not tied to anyone’s personal credit in any way.

Will I be charged a cash-advance fee if I purchase a Commerce Visa Gift Card online with my Commerce Bank Visa Check Card or Commerce Bank Credit Card?

No. When purchasing a Commerce Visa Gift Card online, you will be charged for the value you load onto the card, any fees and shipping charges. The transaction will show on your checking or credit card statement.

How long will it take for me to receive the Commerce Visa Gift Card that I purchase online?

If you choose FREE standard delivery you should receive your card in 5-7 business days. If you choose express delivery you should receive your card in 2-4 business days with an additional cost of $19.99 per card. Corporate customers or customers ordering more than 25 cards should contact the Commerce Visa Gift Card Team at giftcard@commercebank.com.†

When I purchase a Commerce Visa Gift Card online, can I send the card to the recipient?

Yes. You can purchase a card up to $200 and have that card sent to your recipient. We cannot ship to PO boxes and foreign addresses. (Any card purchased with a value over $200 must be sent to the purchaser.)

What if my Commerce Visa Gift Card does not arrive?

If the Commerce Visa Gift Card does not arrive, please call 866-271-7780 and report the card lost or stolen.

Does the recipient need to sign an agreement?

No. Agreement to our Terms and Conditions are understood if the recipient signs the back of the Commerce Visa Gift Card or makes a purchase. The Terms and Conditions are provided with the card.

I am trying to purchase a Commerce Visa Gift Card online. The system has denied my attempt to purchase. Why?

To purchase a gift card online, we only accept Commerce Bank Visa Check Cards or Commerce Bank Credit Cards. If you are using a Commerce Bank card and you are being denied, please call the number on the back of your card.

Why purchase a Commerce Visa Gift Card rather than a store gift card or a gift certificate?

Unlike store gift cards or gift certificates, the Commerce Visa Gift Card enables the recipient to choose where, when, and what they spend the money on. The card can be used at several stores and even online. Since the card has the Visa logo, it carries more protection including lost or stolen replacement capability. Fees may apply.

Why should I register my Commerce Visa Gift Card?

Registering your card has several benefits:

  • It enables you to make purchases online. Most online retailers do not accept payments without a valid “billing” address. Your registered address will serve as the “billing” address that retailers require.
  • It enables Customer Service Representatives to more quickly assist you when you call.
  • It protects you if your card is ever lost or stolen, so that you can be reimbursed for lost funds.
My Commerce Visa Gift Card doesn’t have my name on it. Can I still use it?

Yes. You can still use your Commerce Visa Gift Card even though your name doesn’t appear on the card. Make sure you sign the back of your Commerce Visa Gift Card because a retailer can validate your identity by comparing your signature on the back of your Commerce Visa Gift Card with the one on your receipt. Please register your card at www.visaprepaidprocessing.com/commercebank/giftcardsonline.

What should I do if my Commerce Visa Gift Card is lost or stolen?

If your card is lost or stolen, contact Customer Service immediately at 866-271-7780.

What Terms and Conditions apply to the card?

By signing the back of your card or using your Commerce Visa Gift Card, you accept the Terms and Conditions provided to you with the card. Review the Terms and Conditions.

How will I know the original amount of my Commerce Visa Gift Card?

Can I make purchases for more than the amount remaining on my Commerce Visa Gift Card?

For purchases that are higher than your Commerce Visa Gift Card balance, you can use your Commerce Visa Gift Card along with another form of payment. Your Commerce Visa Gift Card is a prepaid card and can only be used up to the amount on the card. If you attempt to make a purchase for more than the amount available on the card without another form of payment to pay the difference, the transaction will be declined.

Can I use my Commerce Visa Gift Card at more than one place?

Yes. That’s the advantage of a Commerce Visa Gift Card! You can use your Commerce Visa Gift Card at multiple retailers nationwide that accept Visa debit cards, as long as there is a balance remaining on the card.

Can I use my Commerce Visa Gift Card online?

Yes. You can use your Commerce Visa Gift Card to make purchases online. You must register your card before purchasing online. Some retailers will not process your purchase without a valid address registered to the card. Can I use my Commerce Visa Gift Card at an ATM?

No. Your Commerce Visa Gift Card can only be used for retail, online, and telephone purchases.

Can I use my Commerce Visa Gift Card to get cash or cash back at a bank or checkout lane?

No. Your Commerce Visa Gift Card can only be used for retail, online, and telephone purchases.

Can I add more money onto my Commerce Visa Gift Card?

No, the Commerce Visa Gift Card does not have a reloadable feature.

How long can I use my Commerce Visa Gift Card?

Your Commerce Visa Gift Card expiration date is embossed on the front of your card. You can use your card through the last day of the month printed on the card, or until you deplete the funds on the card.

What do I do if my Commerce Visa Card is expired and I still have a balance?

If you have a balance remaining on your Commerce Visa Gift Card, you can request to have a check mailed to you for the remaining balance, minus the processing fee.

What happens if I spend all of the money on my Commerce Visa Gift Card?

Once you have used up the funds on your Commerce Visa Gift Card, your card will be closed. You can keep it in case you need to return an item you have purchased using the card, which will reopen your card if it has not passed the expiration date. You can keep it as a memento. You can also discard it once you have spent all of your money.

What do I do if I have moved since I registered my Commerce Visa Gift Card?

You can change your address or telephone number online at www.visaprepaidprocessing.com/commercebank/giftcardsonline or by calling a Customer Service Representative at 866-271-7780.

Is there a maintenance fee?

There is a monthly maintenance fee of $2.50, which is waived for the first six months. If you still have a balance remaining on the card after this introductory period, your card will be charged a monthly maintenance fee for as long as there is a balance remaining on the card.

Why is my Actual Balance different than my Available Balance?

Typically, your Available Balance is less than your Actual Balance because your Available Balance reflects purchases you have made that have been authorized, but have not cleared your card. Your Actual Balance reflects all purchases that have cleared on your card.

Why can’t I use my Commerce Visa Gift Card to pay for gas at the gas pump?

Because the amount of the purchase is unknown and cannot be pre-authorized at a pump. You can use your Commerce Visa Gift Card for gas purchases by paying inside.

Is the Commerce Visa Gift Card connected to my credit or the credit of the person to whom I am giving the card?

No. The Commerce Visa Gift Card is not tied to anyone’s personal credit in any way.

If the Commerce Visa Gift Card is not connected to my personal credit profile, why do you need to know my Social Security Number?

Visa uses key information when investigating a dispute for an unauthorized purchase. While your Social Security Number is not required, this information enables Visa to better protect your dispute rights if your card is ever lost or stolen.

What dollar amounts can I put on a Commerce Visa Gift Card?

Corporate Customers can purchase cards in any whole dollar amount from $25 to $1,000 per card.

I am a Corporate Customer, and want to reward my employees with a Commerce Visa Gift Card. Should I just purchase the cards from the Commerce Bank Branch down the street?

We recommend using our Multi-Gift Card Order Form online. If you require more than 25 cards and have 4-7 days before you need to deliver the cards to your employees, this is the method we prefer you to use. The cards will be delivered to your place of business within 4-7 days and will arrive deactivated, which secures them from loss or theft.

What payment method can Corporate Customers use to buy a Commerce Visa Gift Card?

For our Corporate Customers using our Multi-Gift Card Ordering Process, you may use a Visa or MasterCard Check Card or Visa or MasterCard Credit Card. You may also use your Commerce Bank Corporate Card or Purchasing Card. If you have questions please contact the gift card team at giftcard@commercebank.com.†

Will Corporate Customers be charged a fee for purchasing a Commerce Visa Gift Card?

Yes. Fees for cards purchased online vary based on dollar amount loaded to the card. Online sales may also incur a shipping fee.

What can I expect after I place my Corporate Order using the Multi-Gift Card Order Form?

You will receive an e-mail notice from us to let you know your order has been received. A member of the Commerce Visa Gift Card Team will then send you an e-mail letting you know we have placed your order and it will arrive to your place of business via Federal Express. Also included in the email will be the activation code for you to provide to your employees when you distribute the cards. In the actual delivery a spreadsheet will be included that will list the card numbers in your order and the value loaded to that particular card. The cards will come attached to the card carrier with a special envelope that will allow you to write the name of the recipient and the value of the card.

Why is the Authorization Code important?

When you order your cards using the Multi-Gift Card Order Form, the cards will be shipped in a deactivated state. When you give the cards to your employees, be sure to give them the authorization code we provide in the e-mail. Your employees can visit our website, www.visaprepaidprocessing.com/commercebank/giftcardsonline, or call 866-271-7780 to activate and register their card. Once activated, your employees will be able to use the card.

Can Corporate Customers order a large quantity of Gift Cards and distribute over a long period of time?

We at Commerce Bank prefer that you order the cards as needed. Although the maintenance fee will not kick in until 6 months after the card has been activated, each card has an expiration date. The expiration date is embossed on the card at the time of order, and gives the card a life of 15 months. By not distributing Gift Cards as soon as possible, you may limit the amount of time your employee has to use their card before it expires.
