Commerce Fraud Alerts

What is a Commerce Fraud Alert?

Commerce Fraud Alerts are triggered at the time of a suspicious card transaction on your account and apply to all of your accounts that have a card, except for pre-paid cards.

How does it work?

The Commerce Fraud Alert will be sent to up to two mobile phone numbers you have provided to the bank for both primary and secondary cardholders. Only one text alert will be sent to each phone on an account per suspicious event.

When will I receive my Alert?

Commerce Fraud Alerts will be sent soon after a suspicious activity is detected on your account.

How are Commerce Fraud Alerts sent to my mobile phone?

Fraud Alerts will be sent to your phone via text message. Text messages are sent from Commerce Bank short code (90829).

How can I change the mobile phone number used for text Alerts?

To change your mobile phone number, log in to Online Banking and go to "Alerts" under "Customer Service". Click the edit icon next to your mobile phone number and follow the instructions. If you do not have an Online Banking account, please visit your nearest branch.

What mobile phone service providers do you support?

The mobile phone service providers that support this service are: AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, Alltel (now includes Midwest), Virgin Mobile, C Spire (formerly Cellular South) nTelos, Cellcom, US Cellular, ACS Wireless, Bluegrass, Cellone Nation, Cellular One of East Central Illinois, Centennial, Cox Wireless, East Kentucky Network, Element Mobile, GCI Communications, Golden State Cellular, Immix, Inland Cellular, iWireless, Nex-TechWireless.

How do I stop receiving Fraud Alerts?

To stop receiving Fraud Alerts, text "STOP" to the Commerce Bank short code 90829.

Why don’t I receive Fraud Alerts via text messages from Commerce Bank when there is suspicious activity on my account?

Your mobile phone service provider may be blocking the use of "short codes" on your mobile phone even though it is enabled to receive text messages. Please contact your service provider to make sure they are not blocking short codes.

Does Commerce Bank charge a fee for Fraud Alerts?

Commerce Bank does not charge a fee for Fraud Alerts. Check with your wireless phone carrier for your plan details.
