Forbes Names Commerce Bank One of the Best Midsize Employers in America for Fourth Consecutive Year

Forbes 2023 America's Best Mid-size Employers | Powered by Statista

St. Louis, MO – Commerce Bank has been recognized on Forbes’ 2021 America’s Best Midsize Employers List for the fourth consecutive year. Following an unprecedented year marked with immense change and uncertainty, Commerce’s inclusion on the list highlights the company’s efforts to respond amidst a global pandemic and adapt in ways benefitting customers and team members. The list was developed based on comprehensive survey findings compiled by research firm Statista.

In speaking to this recognition, Sara Foster, executive vice president, talent and corporate administration, said, “2020 was a year that saw Commerce constantly working to adapt and respond, to keep our team members and communities safe and to help our customers as they grappled with new financial challenges. The key to Commerce’s success in a challenging year – and always – is the culture our team creates every day. Being honored with this award for the fourth consecutive year is a testament to the strong culture we have at Commerce. I am proud of the commitment, hard work and resilience of our team members who make Commerce the great organization that it is.”

Commerce’s strong culture underpins our long-term success. Team members who have high levels of engagement and enablement are most effective in the workplace – they feel supported in doing their job, are committed to the organization and are motivated to deliver quality work. Amidst the disruption of 2020, our annual team member engagement survey was conducted by Korn Ferry in late spring. The results were a record — by some margin — for both team member engagement and enablement, which is a testament to our strong teamwork and culture. In 2019, we were recognized by Korn Ferry for being in the top echelon of their employee engagement universe as one of only four “Outstanding Employers” in the U.S. with superior engagement and enablement. Commerce has built upon that mark and are now outpacing high-performance norms in nearly every survey category.

Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to compile the list by surveying 50,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees. Participants were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family, and to nominate organizations other than their own. The final list, which can be found here, ranks the 500 large and 500 midsize employers that received the most recommendations.
