Commerce Bank - Houston President Sebastien Solar Named a 2026 Most Admired CEO Honoree
Houston — Commerce Bank announced that Sebastien Solar, Houston president, has been named to the Houston Business Journal’s 2026 Most Admired CEO Awards honoree list.
The annual awards program recognizes outstanding chief executives and equivalent leaders who have demonstrated exceptional business leadership and community impact across the Houston metropolitan area.
Solar has served as president for Commerce Bank – Houston for the past eight years, leading the launch and growth of the bank’s presence in the area since 2018. Under his leadership, the Houston market has become a key growth region, expanding the delivery of sophisticated commercial banking solutions while strengthening enterprise capabilities in healthcare payments automation, construction, equipment and aircraft finance, commercial real estate and wealth management.

In 2023, Houston Business Journal honored him as an Outstanding Diversity Champion for his efforts to advance diversity and inclusion within both the business community and nonprofit organizations.
Education reform remains Solar’s greatest personal passion. He serves as Chair of the Finance Committee and a member of the Executive Committee of Good Reason Houston, the region’s leading voice for public education improvement. The organization recently celebrated a landmark milestone, achieving its goal of helping more than 60,000 students move from D and F rated schools to A and B rated schools by 2025. Building on that progress, Good Reason Houston is now working alongside education, civic and business leaders to double the number of Houston graduates on a pathway to earning a living wage.
Solar also serves on the Board of Directors of the Harris Health Strategic Fund, which is leading a 10-year initiative to raise and deploy more than $2.9 billion to improve healthcare access for underserved residents across Harris County. In addition, Solar has supported the Children’s Museum of Houston for more than a decade, helping advance its mission of transforming communities through innovative child-centered learning and ensuring children and families across the region have access to engaging educational experiences that inspire a lifelong love of learning.
His previous community leadership roles also include service with Children at Risk and the Trinity University Board of Visitors.
Houston Business Journal will recognize Solar and fellow honorees at the 2026 Most Admired CEO Awards luncheon on Thursday, August 27.
